2025 General Rules
1. Board Members have final decision.
2. Judges decision is final on the track.
3. A certified weight and point system will be in effect. No vehicle will be awarded points unless membership dues and insurance fees are paid (points will begin at this time). 1 vote per vehicle with 1 hook required.
4. Membership dues are $40.00 per year and insurance fees are $160.00 per vehicle. At the first event, before hooking membership dues and insurance fee are required to be paid in full. Pullers will be allowed to compete for a one day membership fee of $30.00 per event per vehicle with a maximum of 5 events and NO points will be awarded.
5. Any changes made will require a re-certification. To re-certify two tractors will be used to set the scale.
6. All tracks for pulling contest should be a minimum of 200 feet and maximum of 320 feet where allowed. There should be an area at the end for shut down which is kept open at all times.
7. All hooks are to start with a tight hitch. NO jerking is allowed.
8. In each class the puller Number One will be the test puller. The test puller may take the hook if the sled is
set. If the puller does not take the first hook they may immediately take a second hook or they can hook third or last.
9. All pullers will have two chances to start the sled within a 100 foot pit area. In the event of a pull off there will be only one attempt to complete the pass. The pull will terminate when forward motion ends. In the event of a pull off the pullers must hook or they will be disqualified. In the event the puller pulling vehicle has broken to where another hook will cause more damage it will be listed last in the pull off.
10. Any part of the vehicle or sled (excluding flaps) goes out of bounds or touches the white line the driver is DQ. The judge will have the final decision.
11. No one allowed on track except track judge, puller and or track official. No support vehicles or coaches are allowed after the vehicle is hook to the sled.
12. Any trial runs will be made after the completion of the entire class with the IFPA board, sled operator and promoters permission.
13. All pulling vehicles will be subject to inspection by the IFPA directors or tech committee before and after each pull. Vehicles that do not meet IFPA rules will be subject to disqualification.
14. The board has the right to internally inspect any new entry or certification of any class at any time.
15. Any protest must be made before pulling vehicle leaves the track.
16. Tech committee or IFPA board will have the power to enforce the rules and settle disputes over disqualifications. Any repeat infractions will result in a one year disqualification from the time of the infraction.
17. Pullers must remain seated and remain in an upright position and KEEP ONE HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL at all times. Vehicle must be operated in a safe manner on and off the track. No passengers are allowed on the vehicle. Pulling vehicles must be attended and drivers must be in seat at all times while engine is running. Vehicles must have a neutral safety switch.
18. Any vehicle operated in an unsafe manner or any unsportsman like conduct, including foul language or excessive use of alcohol will be grounds for disqualification and loss of event points. No alcohol will be allowed on the track.
19. Driver will place the pulling vehicle in NEUTRAL and have foot off the clutch while hooking or unhooking from the sled.
20. All weights shall be secured to the pulling vehicle. Any weight lost during a measured hook will result in an disqualification. No weights allowed on platform, seat or in the cab. Weights shall not interfere with hooking of the sled.
21. Excessive loss of liquid from the vehicle will be a cause for termination of the pull by the track judge and the distance will be measured at that point.
22. A vehicle may not be entered in the same class more than once and is limited to 2 hooks per event. Members and Non- Members may hook the 3rd time but will be charged $30.00 for the 3rd hook.
23. All tractors must have hood and fenders if equipped from the factory and must be as close to the original as possible.
24. All vehicles must have working brakes.
25. All tractors must have factory equipped governors and must be operative.
26. All forms of nitro-methane (including nitrous oxide and propylene) are illegal as fuel. NO LP, ice, water alcohol, or pressurized tanks of any kind allowed. LP will be allowed as a primary fuel. Alcohol is allowed in IFPA trucks and 8,500 open class.
27. No front wheel assist tractors, steel wheels, dual tires and chains.
28. All tractors must have tip over bars. Tip over bars must extend a minimum of 32 inches behind the center of the rear axle and be a minimum of 20 inches apart. Pads must be a minimum of 5 inches square and must not be more than 10 inches off the ground. Tip over bars must be able to support the tractor when a jack is placed under them and are subject to IFPA approval.
29. Must have a kill switch for gas vehicles and guillotine for diesel vehicles. This is required for IFPA entries.
30. Anyone protesting the legality of a pulling vehicle engine will be required to put a $750.00 tear down fee. If the vehicle is found to be in violation the protester will retain the $750.00 and the violation vehicle and the member will be disqualified for one year. If the vehicle is found to be legal the protestee will receive the $250.00.
31. All rules will be strictly enforced. Any question on the legality of a vehicle, PLEASE contact a tech or board member to resolve any issues.
32. IFPA is hiring a track official to flag at some pulls. Track judge will need to be IFPA Member.
33. Electric fans are required on all pulling vehicle.
34. NO inter-coolers, after-coolers or cooling devices for the air or fuel of any kind are not allowed.
35. All tractors must have a functioning RPM monitoring device approved by IFPA. All tractors must have a two prong 120v tach plug. (Gordyville Style)
36. Side shields are required for Pro Farm.
37. All vehicles must be equipped with balancer retainer.
38. All gas engines must have electric fuel pump shut off.
39. REQUIRED: Seat belts for all pulling vehicles.
40. All vehicles hooking eye must measure 3 3/4 inches deep and 3 inches wide.
41. REQUIRED: All classes will wear Fire Suit and Helmet. Farm Stock Class refer to Rule 30 in Farm Stock Rules.
42. No out of bounds after 300 feet.
43. If puller or pullers goes out of bounds, lose weight or weights or any part or parts on tractor or truck they will receive last place points and money. Any Performance Enhancement on tractor or truck no points or money will be given.
44. Flag Man will cross the flags if the puller goes out of bounds and will throw red flag if it is a safety issue.
45. All vehicles are required to have a Fire Extinguisher with 2lb requirement.
46. Social Media - Any negative media about IFPA will result in: 1st offense member will lose 20 points. 2nd offense member will lose all points.
48. Show Up Points - If a member breaks during the event or rained out during the event the member will receive 5 points. If more than 10 vehicles in the class the member will receive last place points.
49. Tach Box: If tach box is being used, tractors over on RPM limit will be parked at the end of the track and checked at the end of the class. If tractor is over RPM on the second check, the tractor is disqualified.
